An Analysis of E-C Translation of TED Talk Subtitle from the Perspective of Functional Equivalence Theory -- A Case Study of Talks with the Social Theme_英语论文
摘要
作为文化交流与学习的一种媒介,国外的网络视频在中国越来越流行,其字幕研究能进一步突破语言间的隔阂并促进中西文化交流与传播。在字幕翻译研究领域中,中国起步较晚且其研究体系及方法尚未成熟。本文从在中国颇受欢迎和传播较广的TED网站选取了几个较受欢迎且传播较广的以社会类主题的视频为例,以功能对等理论为理论基础,通过案例分析的形式进行分析,并从语言与文化两大层面的对等总结出了实用的字幕翻译策略与方法。作者希望能与广大爱好字幕翻译的译者共同探讨字幕翻译的研究。

Abstract
Foreign online videos, as a kind of medium of cultural exchanges and learning, have caught on in China. The study of their subtitle translation can help further breakthrough the language estrangement and promote the cultural communication between two countries. In the subtitle translation area, China is a late starter compared with the west, and its research system and method still has a broad space for development. This thesis, analyzing several foreign online videos with the social theme from TED, one of the most popular and widespread ones in China, finds out and summarizes some useful translation strategies and methods for subtitle translation through a case study based on Functional Equivalence Theory from linguistic and cultural aspects. The author expects to discuss with translators interested in subtitle translation and learn from each other.
