Abstract
China has a long history and attracts millions of foreign tourists from all parts of the world every year. In order to have more comprehensive understandings of Chinese cultures and history, many foreign visitors choose to visit museums. Obviously, the translation of cultural relics in museums serves as a bridge to help them acquire more knowledge about Chinese history and cultures. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the translation quality of the cultural relics so as to present a real and objective image of China to the visitors. The Archaeological Site Museum of Nanyue Palace has been one of the best known typical palaces and royal gardens in China. Thus, this thesis, under the guidance of Nida’s functional equivalence theory, centers on the translation strategy discussion with respect to cultural relics by analyzing the examples collected from this museum. This study is conducive to enriching the practice of functional equivalence theory, providing references for the translation of cultural relics text, and attracting more scholars' attention for further study.
