A Comparison of Non-verbal Behaviors of Chinese and Western Teachers in Classroom Context_英语论文

摘要

非言语行为是一种重要的交流方式。教师课堂非语言行为直接影响课堂气氛,师生关系和课堂教学效果。由于文化背景不同,中西方教师在课堂教学中的非言语行为存在差异。本文探讨了非言语行为差异的文化原因以及中西方教学的具体表现形式。本文采用了调查问卷的方式,对学生进行采访。研究结果表明中西方教师在课堂环境下的非言语行为具有明显的差异,学会运用西方教师的非言语行为更有利于提高教学效率,提高学生们的学习兴趣,也因此有利于改善教师的课堂教学和师生之间的沟通。由于调查群体的局限性,调查结果也相应地具有局限性,但总体上本论文为将来继续研究中西方教师在课堂上的非言语行为差异提供了借鉴。

Abstract

Non-verbal behavior is an important form of communication. Teachers’ classroom non-verbal behavior directly affects classroom atmosphere, teacher-student relationship and classroom teaching effect. Due to different cultural backgrounds, there are differences between Chinese and western teachers’ non-verbal behaviors in classroom teaching. This paper explores the cultural causes of the differences in non-verbal behaviors and the specific manifestations of the Chinese and western teaching. This article uses a questionnaire to interview students. The research results show that Chinese and western teacher manifest obvious differences in their non-verbal behaviors in the classroom context. Learning how to use non-verbal behaviors from western teachers is conducive to improving teaching efficiency and improving students’ interest in learning and thus may improve teachers’ classroom teaching and the communication between teachers and students. Due to the limitations of the survey group, the survey results are correspondingly limited. However, in general, this paper provides a reference for continuing to study the differences in non-verbal behavior between Chinese and western teachers in the classroom context in the future.
