The Tendency of Business Workplace Roles' Using Discourse Markers in English Movies_英语论文

摘要

在英语口语中理解和使用语篇标记语非常重要。本文旨在研究英文电影中商务职场角色使用语篇标记语的倾向。针对英文电影片段，基于Maschler、Fung和Carter对语篇标记语的分类，采用定性分析和对比分析的方法来总结不同角色使用不同语篇标记语的使用频率，为本科生商务英语课堂的角色扮演练习提供参考性意见。经分析得出以下结论：1)在含上下级关系的对话语境中，上级角色倾向于使用结构功能语标，而下级角色倾向于使用照应和交际功能语标；2)在同级角色间的对话语境中，交际功能语标的使用频率最高。

Abstract

Understanding and using discourse markers are important in spoken English. The purpose of this paper is to study the tendency of business workplace roles' using discourse markers in English movies. Based on the classification of discourse markers by Maschler, Fung and Carter, qualitative analysis and comparative analysis are used to summarize the frequency of different discourse markers used by different roles, so as to provide reference for role-playing exercises in Business English classes for undergraduates. Through analysis, the following conclusions can be drawn. 1) In the context of dialogues with superior-subordinate relationship, superior roles tend to use structural discourse markers, while subordinate roles tend to use referential and interpersonal discourse markers. 2) In the context of dialogues with peer-peer relationship, interpersonal discourse markers are the most frequently used.
