A Comparative Study of A Doll’s House and The Regret of the Past from the Feminist Perspective_

Abstract
"A Doll's House" is the representative work of Henrik Ibsen, a famous Norwegian dramatist in nineteenth Century.“The Regret of the Past” is an influential love story written by Lu Xun, a famous Chinese contemporary writer in the time of the May 4th Movement. These two novels produced in different countries and historical backgrounds, but they have the same content: Feminist Criticism. Both of them shaped the image of women with distinctive democratic ideas and the pursuit of individual liberation ,and were based on the conflict between family and husband to reveal the social contradictions .The former reflects the initial awakening of women's consciousness, while the latter shows that after the free marriage, women have no autonomy in the economy, and they still don’t get rid of the miserable fate. Though a comparative study, this article will reveal the inseparable relationship between feminist literary works and social culture. Finally, it is pointed out that only by gaining economic independence and equal social status, women can really grasp their own destiny.
