摘要 

《珍珠》是美国作家约翰·斯坦贝克一部具有寓言意义的小说，作品内涵丰富，可以从不同的层面加以解读。小说从渔夫基诺视角出发，主要围绕基诺的儿子被蝎子蛰而求医被拒，却意外的捕到一颗珍珠展开，基诺本以为从此能过上幸福的生活，可经历这颗珍珠给他带来的许多灾难后，最终把珍珠扔回了大海，回归到了平静的生活。贪婪的追求意外之财导致自我人性的迷失，只有摆脱这些贪念才实现自我回归。他的这种思想与我们中国古代思想家老子的思想有很多相似之处。本论文以道家“道法自然”思想为理论基础、结合道家思想的价值内涵，阐明小说中所体现的《道德经》里道家智慧，发现斯坦贝克在处理人与人关系、人与自然关系方面深受道家思想的影响，从而探索中西方文化的共通之处.本论文不仅有利于我们深刻了解这两部作品，而且有利于我们理解在构建当代和谐社会的过程中要坚持适度原则，不要过度干涉自然。
