各个国家历史、社会、文化发展的差异性，导致其语言必然带有各自特殊的文化烙印。这些带有特定文化内涵的词汇和表达被称为“文化专有项”。跨文化交流的迅速发展给当今翻译研究带来了一个难题：如何成功地将文化专有项传达给其他文化的读者。

《我不是潘金莲》是茅盾文学奖得主刘震云的长篇小说，围绕一位农村妇女长达数十年的“告状”经历，勾勒出中国当代社会与政治的一个侧面。由于是现实主义作品，小说涉及大量中国特色的文化成分，要将小说翻译给外国读者，文化专有项的翻译是重中之重。基于此，本文探讨了由葛浩文和林丽君翻译、2014年拱廊出版公司出版的该小说英译本中对原文文化专有项的英译策略。

1996年，西班牙翻译家艾克西拉提出“文化专有项”这一概念，之后许多国内外专家提出过文化专有项的翻译策略。在所有研究中，艾克西拉本人总结的翻译策略较为全面，并广泛受到认可。本文的理论框架采用艾克西拉对文化专有项的研究结果，主要将文化专有项分为两类：专有名词（包括常规专有名词和负载专有名词）和常见表达。又借用奈达对文化专有项的分类，进一步将常见表达分为五项，涉及生态文化、物质文化、社会文化、宗教文化以及语言文化。在此基础上，本文通过例证分析，总结了葛浩文夫妇译本中的文化专有项翻译策略，包括转换拼写法、语言（非文化） 翻译、文内注释, 绝对世界化，同化以及删除。本文旨在为文化专有项的翻译研究提供参考，并对促进中国当代文学在西方世界的传播提供建议。
