摘要

几乎在所有文化之中，语言都扮演着至关重要的作用，标志着一个民族、国家文化的历史发展。而不同的语言同样在各自文化背景下，根据时间的不同而呈现出不同的形态，语言和文化之间的关系也会因此发生变化。由于不同语言和文化之间存在不可避免的差异，若是不同地区的人们需要相互交流文化，语言之间翻译的“中介（即译者）”是必不可少的。

本文所采取的研究对象是罗贯中编写的小说《三国演义》，以及由邓罗及罗慕士所翻译的两组译文。研究将通过对比解析原文，对文化和语言何者为先决条件进行探讨。在分析过程中将列举《三国演义》文中的诗句、人物对话，对比各版本间不同语言的运用、以及同一语言的不同运用，分析语言与文化、语言与思想之间的关系，探讨萨丕尔-沃尔夫假说的合理性和不足。并且本文将进一步说明译者和读者应当如何正确对待语言与文化之间的关系，从而更好推动世界文化发展。
