摘要

弗吉尼亚伍尔夫是意识流的英国主要代表作家之一。《雅各的房间》出版于1992年。 它被认为是弗吉尼亚伍尔夫创作时期的一个转折点因为这本小说是她尝试用意识流写作技巧的开端，也是她后来两本很有名的意识流小说《到灯塔去》《海浪》的前奏。当读者翻开《雅各的房间》这本书时会期待着有一个以雅各为中心的完整的情节故事，或是一个悲剧或是一个喜剧。但是，这本小说却与读者的猜想大是不同。
