On Translation of Terms in A System of Logic Based on the Terminology Bank_英语论文

摘要

《穆勒名学》作为严复在西学东渐的汉译风潮中八大译著之一，对于引进西方逻辑学，改变国人思维，推进近代中国发展产生了深远的影响。众多学者都曾对《穆勒名学》的译著有深入的研究，虽取得了一定的研究成果，但鲜有对严复译名的系统梳理，也没有运用术语库的方法来展开统计分析，因此还有一些值得探索的空间以及可以尝试的研究方法。

本论文以严复对于《逻辑学体系》(A System of Logic)的汉译本《穆勒名学》为语料，以适应和选择为视野，在建立术语库的基础上，以音译、意译、直译和音译结合对语料进行分组和数据分析。并对译名的个例进行分析，总结严复译名特征，进一步探究严复在选择译名的时候进行的多维度适应，并从中吸取现代翻译术语的经验，为术语的翻译研究提供了一个新的视角。

本研究发现，严复的译名方法多集中在意译、音译和直译，且音译多以音译加注释的方式出现。每种翻译的处理方法都在一定程度上体现了翻译多维度的适应，包括文化、语言和交际的适应。但是严复译名风格仿古，多以单字出现，不能完全涵盖英文逻辑术语的意思，并且仿古的译名也不利于《穆勒名学》和逻辑知识在广大群众中的传播，这也是其译名后来被取代的原因之一。
