摘要

王际真对《红楼梦》的英译总共出版了结构和内容不相同的三个文本，即1929年版39回本、1958年版60回本及其40回节略本。虽然王际真为《红楼梦》的世界传播作出了重要贡献，但是王际真本人在国内的知名度却不高，人们对他的三译本更是所知甚少。本文侧重于研究王际真三译本的改译策略研究，其中指明了红楼梦的翻译历史，简要介绍了译者本人的经历，以及对红楼梦三译本作了比较与评析，从中了解了王际真在红楼梦改译过程中所使用的策略与改译缘由。从而为《红楼梦》的翻译研究提供一些新角度，也为翻译的改译开拓一些新视角。
