摘要

夏洛蒂·勃朗特是英国19世纪杰出的女性小说家之一。她创作的文学作品常以追求女性独立和追求与男性平等的社会价值为主题。《简爱》是她精心创作的具有自传色彩的一部脍炙人口的长篇小说。该小说以第一人称视角展现了女主简爱如何追求自由、平等和尊重 并最终嫁给男主罗切斯特，过上幸福婚姻生活的过程,成功塑造了敢于追求自由、平等和爱情的时代女性形象。但是简爱所实现的自由、平等的背后牺牲了罗切斯特健康强壮的身体，并致使其男性气质有所削弱。本文分析罗切斯特以残疾收尾对于简爱实现平等和尊重的必要性，揭示作者女性主义观点消极和悲观的一面，并阐述这样的情节安排其实是对残疾人群体产生的消极刻板印象的强化。
