摘要

被公认为维多利亚时代最为伟大的作家——查尔斯·狄更斯为英国批判现实主义文学的开拓和发展做出了贡献，其作品深刻地反映了19世纪英国复杂的社会现实。近些年来有学者服饰描写入手，分析服饰元素在狄更斯小说的作用。本文尝试从服饰叙事的权力表现入手，着重分析《雾都孤儿》中的三个社会阶层人物，其中包括了盗贼群体、中产阶级以及特权阶层，通过其服饰描写来解读服饰叙事与权力运作与渗透之间的关系；另外，本文也将探讨同一服饰，诸如手帕和外套在不同性别间所表现出来的权力运行，以更好地理解服饰的权力含义与作品主题，以及服饰成为狄更斯批判现实的有力武器的原因。
