Comparative Study of Chinese Translations of Garden Path Sentences in Great Expectation_英语论文

摘要

花园路径句在英语中十分常见。这是一种复杂但有趣的英语句型,其主要特点是大量使用定语从句，很可能导致读者迷失在花园路径中——多个从句。容易导致读者无法充分理解作者要表达的正真含义。本文着重对比研究狄更斯的小说《远大前程》中花园路径句的中文翻译。文章选取王科一和罗志野的译作，两个都是发行量最大的中译本。选取典型的花园路径句来从语义、句法和语用特征方面来对比。研究表明，读者对于更符合文章背景以及小说情节发展的翻译更容易接受。并且倾向于中文表达明确而不是延续英文中主语不明确的翻译。
