摘要
委婉语在报忧类商务英语信函中起了重要的作用,不但能委婉明确地传达坏消息,又能维持贸易双方的合作关系,使利益冲突变得含蓄而不影响交际目的。本文以礼貌原则为指导,通过对40篇经典的报忧类商务英语信函中的委婉语的部分进行定性分析,从而探究委婉语在报忧类商务英语信函中的表现特征,语用功能和交际目的,并总结出委婉语的相关应用策略,为商务英语信函从事者提供参考性意见及建议。
