《面纱》是毛姆最具争议性的作品，小说名为《面纱》，意蕴非常深刻。作者借一个看似寻常的爱情故事加上作者细腻、冷静的笔触来展现主人公内心世界的发展变化，不仅揭示了社会生活中婚姻、爱情的幻像，同时揭示了人性内心深处的面纱:善与恶的纠葛，自身的困惑与挣扎。在经历了爱情、背叛与死亡的多重磨砺之后，男、女主人公最终以自己的方式走上精神救赎与成长之路并获得心灵的自由。本文意在以书中人物精神变化为主线来探讨小说中男、女主人公精神救赎之路由此为亟需精神救赎的人指出正确或者说恰当的方式。我们应当意识到不只是做了错事的人需要精神救赎，受到伤害的人同样需要。
