摘要

简爱和苔丝是维多利亚时期具有典型性的两位女性形象，两人都是贫穷出身，在社会中长期处于被压迫地位。但两人的结局却截然不同，简爱收获了永恒的爱情，而苔丝却在绞刑架上结束了短暂悲惨的一生。《简爱》的作者夏洛蒂·勃朗特和《苔丝》的作者托马斯·哈代分别生活在英国维多利亚时代的早期和后期，两部作品问世时间相隔43年，本文从女权主义理论出发，主要分析造成简爱与苔丝两人不同结局的原因。
