摘要

2001年诺贝尔文学奖获得者奈保尔是当代最受瞩目也是最受争议的一位作家，其复杂的殖民文化背景造就其在后殖民文学的巨大成就。在他的作品中，奈保尔不断追求自我文化身份定位。他的自传性长篇小说《比斯瓦斯先生的房子》以他父亲为蓝本，讲述了主人公比斯瓦斯先生不断寻找、追求自己的房子，奋斗、反抗的一生，体现了他对生活在后殖民社会和国家的人的文化身份构建问题的探究。本研究通过分析研究奈保尔的《比斯瓦斯先生的房子》，从文化身份探寻的角度出发，指出比斯瓦斯的身份危机，以及其自我身份追求与重构方式，揭示出其文化身份的混杂性，即无论是定位于印度、英国、还是特立尼达的身份寻找注定都是失败的，从而探讨生活在后殖民社会的人的文化身份的边缘性、混杂性以及如何在不同文化的冲击下实现自我文化定位。
