网络媒体翻译中幽默语言的使用策略-以NBA相关微博为例_英语论文

Strategies of Using Humorous Language in Network Media Translation---- A Case Study of NBA Weibo Posts

摘要

与NBA相关的微博中出现一种新的翻译现象，即译者使用幽默的语言进行翻译，改变译文的风格、内容或形式，使其不同于原文并达到一种幽默效果，从而引起人们的兴趣。基于此现象，本文以NBA相关新浪微博为例，总结归纳此类翻译的五种策略，分别是谐音、使用中式英语、使用网络流行语、引用和改编以及改变话语风格。此类翻译策略带着特定的目的将本不幽默的语言翻译成幽默的版本或使译文的幽默效果达到更深层次，打破了传统幽默翻译的标准。本文还通过问卷调查证明使用幽默语言的微博翻译为微博的人气带来积极的影响。

Abstract

The contents of NBA Sina Weibo posts are generally translated from NBA twitter or Facebook posts. In these translated posts, humorous language is used to change the style, meaning or manner so as to attract people’s interest. This phenomenon is very different from the generally accepted translation norms, which emphasize faithfulness, expressiveness, and elegance. The paper studies this newly emerged phenomenon by collecting NBA Weibo posts. Five strategies are identified, i.e. homophonic method, using Chinglish, using network catchwords, using quotes or adaptations and changing speaking manners. Those strategies break the standards of traditional humorous translation by translating something not humorous into a humorous version with a particular purpose. This paper also proves through questionnaire survey that humorous translation helps improve the popularity of certain Weibo.
