An Analysis of "Schmooze" in Gender Discourse

摘要

《老爸老妈浪漫史》（How I Met Your Mother）是一部展现朋友间闲谈的美剧。

本文对剧中闲谈情景下男女性别差异进行了研究，结合话语分析和语境因素理论，利用定性和定量的研究方法,对该部美剧的部分语料进行统计、分析，并结合语境，对统计数据进行讨论并以表格方式展现，以探究男女在交际方式的差异，即在话题选择，打断，重复和反馈策略方面的差异。

Abstract

This paper studies schmooze in gender discourse. Based on the relative theories, in terms of discourse analysis and contextual factors, through analyzing the linguistic data in an American drama “How I Met Your Mother”, this paper goes into four aspects--topics, interruption, overlaps and feedback-- to learn about the difference of schmooze between males and females.
