摘要

基于霍夫斯泰德文化维度理论，跨文化姓名研究就中英姓氏的起源进行异同比较，并从各种维度对比研究中英姓名，寻求深层文化内涵和共性，从而解决在跨文化沟通过程中为文化冲突所影响的理解上的偏差和刻板印象。就姓氏来说，中英都普遍将图腾、地名、职业、颜色和自然景观融入其中，而由于民族精神、政治理论、价值取向和道德准则的不同，姓氏的涵义自然也就会产生差异。赋予名字以希望和祝福，无论在中国还是英语国家，大家都持相同态度。与此同样类似的情况还有男女差异和时代发展的不同。对于存在于名字之中的文化差异，如何寻求平衡，且能够不触及敏感点或禁忌，此也涉及并揭示姓名所蕴涵之深及其意义之大。
