English Lyrics Translation under the Guidance of Functional Equivalence---- Bob Dylan as A Case in Point

摘要

功能等值理论作为一种重要的翻译理论在翻译界具有极其重要的位置，自从诞生以来经过不断发展至今已得到了广泛而全面的应用。本文首先介绍了歌词的文体特点、功能等值理论的概念以及鲍勃迪伦的人生经历，并尽可能用平实的语言讲述以使读者能够更方便的理解和接受。接着，在众多鲍勃的歌词样本中，经过反复的研读和分析从中选取并分析了三首有代表性的歌词的翻译方法，并努力去阐述功能等值理论在这些歌词中的应用以及阐述了一些翻译中应该注意的事项。最后，本文又综合以上所有的研究内容并加以筛选，最终总结出了本论文研究的主要成果并且对以后的研究给出了相应建议。

Abstract

As an important theory the Functional Equivalence theory takes a great position and has been widely used in English translation. This paper first introduces the stylistic features of lyrics, the Functional Equivalence theory, Bob Dylan’s life experience and his skillful use of plain words that readers can easily accept and get the meaning. Then the article, with careful reflection, chooses three representative lyrics to analyze the translation skill under the guidance of Functional Equivalence theory, so as to reveal what is to be taken care of throughout translation process. Finally the article concludes the major findings of the study and gives some suggestions for further studies.
