A Comparison between Yang Xianyi’s and Hawkes’s Translation of a Dream of Red Mansions_英语论文

摘要

作为中国的四大名著之一，《红楼梦》是中华文化的百科全书；它具有深厚的文化底蕴，在中国文学史中占据十分重要的位置。

随着外语研究及翻译研究的发展，学者们针对《红楼梦》各种版本的语言翻译、文化翻译等方面进行了大量的研究。本文通过对杨宪益先生翻译的《红楼梦》和霍克斯先生翻译的《红楼梦》两者的比较分析，得出杨宪益先生与霍克斯先生所使用的翻译策略不同：杨宪益先生使用的是归化的翻译策略，其目的是把中国文化原汁原味地表达给读者；霍克斯先生则使用的是异化的翻译策略，将两种文化结合在一起，意在将作品以更愉悦的方式传递给读者。作者将文本分析与归化异化的翻译策略相结合，从而更深层地了解《红楼梦》。
