目的论视角下的自译研究-以张爱玲自译《怨女》为例_英语论文

Self-Translation Based on Skopos Theory—A Case Study of Eileen Chang’s The Rouge of the North 

摘要

张爱玲是一位知名女作家，却鲜有人知道她也是一名优秀的译者。原作者以及译者的双重身份一方面使她对原文本有着更好的理解，另一方面也使她在翻译时享有更多的自由。这种特殊的翻译现象就是自译，在自译活动中，自译者可以自由选择多样化的翻译方式，以达到最佳的翻译效果。而作为重要翻译理论的翻译目的论，其三项主要原则：目的原则、连贯原则、忠实原则要求译文以受众为中心，即译者按译入语接受者期待的方式进行翻译，并结合给定的翻译语境决定采用何种翻译方法。鉴于自译研究在我国仍未受到充分关注，本论文特选取张爱玲自译小说《怨女》为个案进行研究，以目的论作为理论框架，旨在探讨其中的具体翻译策略。通过比较《怨女》中、英版本的差异，本论文试归纳出自译中可以采纳的翻译技巧。简而言之，本论文从目的论视角进行自译研究，旨在掌握自译方法，以期为以后自译相关研究以及实践活动提供借鉴。

Abstract

Eileen Chang, a famous women writer, is also an excellent translator, which is rarely known to people. The dual role as the writer and the translator makes her get better understanding of source text as well as enjoy more freedom when translating. Such a special kind of translating is self-translation. The special identity of self-translators provides them with the right and freedom to choose much more diverse ways for translating, which definitely contributes to the good quality of translation. And skopos theory, as one of the most important translating theories, mainly consists of three rules which are skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule separately. It is a translating way centered on targets, which means the translator should take targets’ expectations into consideration and decides on specific translating approaches according to the context when translating. Given the fact that self-translation has not yet got too much attention in our country, the paper selects Eileen Chang’s self-translating novel, The Rouge of the North, as a case to study the translating skills it adopts from the perspective of skopos theory. Through comparing the distinction between source text and target text, the paper summarizes the translating skills inside. Briefly, the paper studies self-translation in the light of skopos theory and aims to master relevant approaches, in the hope to give some guidance to self-translation study and practice.
