摘要

习语是人们日常生活中语言精华的凝练，它的语言通常是简短形象，耐人寻味。自古以来，中国人就偏好用此来表达情感，有的习语语言幽默却不失风趣，有的批评或者是暗讽。同样，英美人也喜欢在日常生活交往中使用习语。本论文通过研究中英习语的形成及其变化和造成文化差异的不同因素；通过分析不同习语，根据相关的汉英翻译理论知识，来探讨习语翻译的方法技巧，如：直译、意译、转换、直译与意译结合。习语的翻译研究对于促进中英文化交流，正确理解和运用习语有一定的帮助。
