摘要 

美剧《摩登家庭》讲述了三组各不相同却又极具代表性的三个的家庭的故事。他们有成长于北美的，拥有美国文化背景的，在剧中是美国人缩影的：同性伴侣米奇和卡梅隆以及他们在越南领养的女儿丽丽；经典美国家庭，菲尔、克莱尔和他们的三个孩子卢克、艾利克斯和海莉；以及典型美国硬汉杰。此外还有两个代表了一个完全不同于美国的文化、来自南美哥伦比亚的人物：歌洛丽亚和她的儿子曼尼。正因为其中的人物具有不同的文化背景，受到文化的影响，因此制造了许多矛盾和冲突。

本文以北美文化和南美文化的冲突和融合为主题，使用文化维度理论，从权力距离、不确定性的规避、个人主义和集体主义、男性化和女性化、长期导向和短期导向，分析冲突产生的文化原因。经研究发现，不同的文化背景造就不同的价值观，价值观差异导致冲突的产生。这些冲突都可以对应到这五个维度，但不同的文化背景产生的矛盾和冲突最后都随着爱和包容转为两种文化的融合。
