A Comparative Study on different cultural connotations between English and Chinese Animal Idioms

摘要

英语和汉语中都有大量的有关动物的习语。由于这些动物习语可以以一种形象而生动的方式来表达我们的情感和思想，所以多数有趣的动物习语在人们的日常生活中被广泛的使用。然而，由于不同的因素，比如地理环境，历史条件，宗教，文化差异，英汉动物习语的文化内涵之间存在许多相似和不同。本文尝试分析英汉动物习语中的相似之处和不同之处，并讨论了对英语教学的启示。

Abstract

There are a lot of animal idioms in both English and Chinese. And many interesting animal idioms are widely used in our daily life because they can express our feelings in a vivid and brief way. However, due different factors such as geography, history, religion, culture, there are some similarities and differences between English and Chinese animal idioms, and this caused much trouble when we study English. The paper is written to analyze the similarities and differences between English and Chinese animal idioms and give some enlightenment on learning and teaching English.
