摘要 

电影《肖申克的救赎》改编自史蒂芬·金的中篇小说《丽塔·海华丝和肖申克的救赎》， 其中荒诞而又痛苦的监狱生存环境需要人物们做出自由的选择并承担各自的责任，同时他们在自由选择的过程中也不断地塑造自我形象。电影中暗含的主旨与存在主义的理论观点不无相似之处。本论文以萨特存在主义理论的三大准则为前提，重点关注电影《肖申克的救赎》中主要人物的形象，将主人公安迪，配角布鲁克斯、瑞德、诺顿等人置身于各自的生存环境之下，分析他们在面对希望、自由，以及命运的抉择时从侧面显露出的本质特征。电影中主要人物的经历也足以引发个人对自我存在本质的全面思索。
