An Analysis of Scarlett's View on Love and Marriage in Gone with the Wind

摘要

本文通过仔细阅读美国作家玛格丽特·米切尔的著作《飘》， 以研究女主斯嘉丽的爱情观和婚姻观为主线，通过时代背景、性格特征来综合分析形成斯嘉丽婚恋观的主要原因。此外,通过对梅兰妮和斯嘉丽两个人不同性格的分析。结合前人的研究成果，从客观的角度看待她对待爱情和婚姻的态度,从而试图说明作为一个时代特征明显的女性，她的爱情观和婚姻观是立体丰满的，也正因为这样，国内外的学者对她的评价才会褒贬不一，并且希望由此得出正确的结论，呼吁当代年轻人树立正确的婚恋观。

Abstract

Through careful reading of American writer Margaret Mitchell's novel Gone with the Wind, by taking the study of Scarlett's view on love and marriage as the main line, this thesis makes a comprehensive analysis of the main reasons for the formation of Scarlett's view on love and marriage through the background of the times and the character. In addition, through the analysis of two different characters，Melanie and Scarlett, combined with the results of the previous research, this thesis analyzes Scarlett's attitude towards love and marriage from an objective point of view so as to explain that as a woman with a distinct feature of the times, her view on love and marriage is three dimensional and plump. It is precisely because of this, scholars at home and abroad have different opinions on her. This thesis hopes to draw the correct conclusion and calls on the contemporary young people to establish a correct view on love and marriage.
