这三个独幕剧发生在纽约，其中伍迪·艾伦很多作品的故事背景都设定在纽约。其众多作品无非都围着一些相似的主题：家庭和婚外情。他的作品让我们开会大笑的同时也让我们陷入深思。

在三个独幕剧中，反语手法发挥了极大的作用。艾伦运用了不同讽刺方式，例如语言反语，情境反语以及戏剧性反语，来展示剧中人物的内心世界，复杂的感情和中产阶级婚姻的感情障碍，以此来嘲讽中产阶级人群在婚姻中所处于的进退两难的境地。

表面上艾伦作品常常是无厘头，滑稽，幽默的。相反的是它们常常蕴含着深刻的人生哲理，基于知识分子的人生经历与宏观宇宙的结合。艾伦对于美国中产阶级婚姻的嘲讽就像一面镜子，活生生的地展示了美国文化的不足之处,如物质主义的膨胀和个人内心世界的空虚，个人主义的膨胀，以及理想主义等等。再者作者同样表达了对人性种种弱点和丑恶现象的抨击，如性欲的泛滥,虚无的存在主义。

总而言之对这三个独幕剧的研究不仅仅可以帮助我们更好的了解美国现代戏剧也可以帮助我们更加深入的了解美国文化。

Abstract

The dramatic setting of Three One-act plays is in New York in which many of Woody Allen’ s works settles on the theme of family and extramarital affairs. His plays make us split our sides with laughter as well as into deep thinking.

In Three One-act plays, irony plays an important role. Woody Allen uses different ways of irony, such as Verbal irony, Situation irony, Dramatic irony, etc to describe rich inner lives of those characters, mixed feelings and barrier to communicate in Middle Class Marriages with the purpose to make mockery of those people who are facing awkward dilemmas in their marriages.

Seemingly, Woody’s plays are always absurd, funny and humorous. On the contrary, they contain a philosophy of life that is a profound thought under the concept of the universe based on intellectual experience. Woody Allen’s Irony on Middle Class Marriages is same as a mirror which vividly refracts defects in American culture, such as individualism expansion, idealism and materialism and spiritual emptiness. Furthermore, it also refracts human frailties: sexual drive, existentialism。

All in all, the study of Three One-act plays not only helps us to understand modern play in America but also understand the American Culture.
