Reflections of the Self-salvation of the Beat Generation in The Catcher in the Rye

摘要

本论文从禅宗的深刻影响的角度探讨了垮掉的一代的自我救赎和《麦田里的守望者》所体现出的自我救赎的关系，以深受禅宗影响的垮掉的一代的两位代表人物杰克凯鲁亚克和艾伦金斯堡为对象，研究禅宗对其思想和作品的影响，将其与《麦田里的守望者》的主人公霍登所体现出的自我救赎从两个方面进行比对，得出了《麦田里的守望者》所反映出的救赎与垮掉的一代的自我救赎所体现的禅宗思想一致的结论。

Abstract

This paper seeks to find the relationship of the self-salvation of the Beat Generation and that of the protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye in the perspective of Zen Buddhism which has profoundly influenced many major figures of the Beat Generation in their self-salvation. Based on the study of the two representatives who were deeply influenced by Zen Buddhism, this paper seeks to find the influence of the Zen Buddhism on their thoughts and their works, and compares it to the self-salvation reflected in the protagonist, Holden, of The Catcher in the Rye, and the conclusion that the self-salvation reflected in The Catcher in the Rye accords with that of the Beat Generation is drawn.
