摘要

戴维·赫伯特·劳伦斯 (1885-1930)，是最具有争议性的作家之一，同时也是最具有影响力的作家之一。他著作颇丰，《虹》是其代表作。本文将主要探讨《虹》的创作主题之一：劳伦斯的婚姻观。劳伦斯在《虹》中不断发展完善自己的婚姻观，想要以此改造资本主义工业迅速发展带来的各种社会弊端，从而创造更美好的未来。但由于劳伦斯在作品中大胆地描写性爱场面，致使他的婚姻观和作品备受争议。近几十年来，国内外对劳伦斯婚姻观的研究也褒贬不一。在这样的背景下，对劳伦斯的婚姻观进行研究具有重要的现实意义。

本论文便是在忠于英文原著《虹》的基础上，参照数年来国内外对《虹》中劳伦斯婚姻观的研究成果，结合多位学者的见解，并融合笔者自己阅读的领悟写成的。全文纵观《虹》中布朗文家族三代人的婚姻，并在此基础上，提炼出劳伦斯婚姻观的主要内容，即劳伦斯强烈支持男女婚姻，他认为男女婚姻应该是一种建立在男女独立人格基础上的灵肉和谐的婚姻。劳伦斯对婚姻的看法对现当代男性和女性追求婚姻幸福有重要的现实意义，既使人充满对婚姻的向往和期待，也引发人们对婚姻中面临的问题进行思考，并探索解决方案。

Abstract

David Herbert Lawrence (1885-1930), one of the most controversial but influential writer, is in possession of considerable works, among which The Rainbow is his masterpiece. This paper focus mainly on one of the main themes of The Rainbow: Lawrence’s outlook on marriage. Lawrence develops and perfects his outlook on marriage constantly in The Rainbow, hoping that it can be a good remedy for the countless social problems brought by the explosive industrial development, and that it helps construct a better and more hopeful future. However, Lawrence’s bold and honest description of sexual relations between man and woman sends his outlook on marriage and his works into disputes and controversy. Nothing has received more praises and abuses than researches on Lawrence’s outlook on marriage from home and abroad over the last few decades. A study on Lawrence’s outlook on marriage is of momentous practical significance in such background.

This paper is written on the basis of The Rainbow, the original version, by reference to the fruits of researches on Lawrence’s outlook on marriage in The Rainbow from home and abroad over the last few years. It is also abundant with consultation from several scholars’ opinions, mingling with the awkward reflections of the author self. This paper overviews the marriage of the three generations of the Brangwens and on that basis, figures out the main contents of Lawrence’s outlook on marriage, which is that Lawrence is a staunch champion for marriage and he holds strongly that the marriage, based on independent personality of both man and woman, is in unfailing pursuit of harmony and unity of body and soul. Lawrence’s outlook on marriage has crucial practical significance for modern men and women to pursue happy marriage. It not only makes people burst with yearning and expectations for marriage, but also triggers people’s deliberation on the problems facing in the marriage, and exploration on solutions to those problems.
