A Contrastive Study on Some Color Terms

摘要

自然世界是五颜六色的，在色彩丰富的英汉两种语言中，颜色词可以表达出独特的魅力。但是，由于英汉两种语言有着不同的形成和发展背景，使得颜色词在英汉两种语言被赋予了不同的文化内涵，本文从红、黑、白、蓝、黄、绿这些基本颜色词出发，对比探讨英汉颜色词的文化内涵，从而增强人们对中西方文异同的了解，加强中西方文化交流。

Abstract

We are living in a colorful world, with many color terms in our language. English and Chinese are also two colorful languages. In these two languages, color terms can express the unique charm. However, because of different cultural backgrounds, people in different countries may have the same or different feelings to the same color terms. In order to help people have a better understanding of the cultural similarities and differences between China and English-speaking countries, as well as promote cross-cultural communication, this paper did a contrast study on these six color terms, red, black, white, blue, yellow, green to do some research. The reason of choosing these color terms is that these color terms are the most basic ones.
