Towards Consistency Between NMET Design and Language Competence Testing

摘要

纵观多年,高考英语一直起着举足轻重的作用。现有研究大量涉及其重要性以及其对于英语教学的启示性。与此同时,有关培养高中生英语语言能力也受到社会广泛关注。

然而,高考英语试题在多大程度上能反映学生英语能力的问题却鲜有研究。通俗地讲,“高考英语命题与学生语言能力测试两者一致性”的面纱并未完全揭开。因而就此话题,立足于观察法和数据收集法,本文将从分析两者“一致性”的角度入手。结合相应理论支撑、部分试题分析及数据对比分析,作者旨在一定程度上探求“命题”与“能力测试”的“一致性”问题。

希望本文的写作为以后的高中英语教学具有启迪作用。

Abstract

NMET (National Matriculation English Test), the main form in which English is tested before the approaching of university years, plays a huge role which can’t be neglected throughout the years. Studies have been conducted on both sides of its consequence and implications for English teaching. In the meantime, stress on developing senior high students’ English language competence is also highlighted in social aspect. 

Yet, what has been less heeded is how well NMET can reflect students’ overall language competence. That is, the interconnection between NMET design and language competence testing may not have been fully unveiled. Concerning this, this thesis is devoted to approaching their interconnection from the view of their consistency. The author deals with the topic by observation and data collection. With corresponding theoretical support, after analysis of parts of NMET items and collected data, it is hoped that how consistent NMET design and language competence testing are can be uncovered, if not all. 

It is the hope of the author to shed light on future senior high school English teaching.
