The Effects of Corrective Feedback in High School English Teaching and Learning

摘要

在英语课堂教学中，错误不可避免。犯错是语言学习过程中的必然现象，错误也是学生学习的重要资源。英语课堂教学从某个方面来说就是不断产生错误不断处理错误的过程。但是如果老师过于频繁地纠错或是不注意纠错的方法，可能会打击学生的学习积极性和自信心，对学生第二语言的学习产生不利的影响。对待学生的错误，教师应该有积极的态度，充分的认识，还要把握合适的时机和恰当的纠错策略给予学生帮助和指导，达到让学生掌握语言知识的目的。同时教师应该提高纠错反馈的效力并且采取恰当的措施提高英语学习效率。

Abstract

Errors are unavoidable in the process of English teaching and learning. Errors are also valuable resources of learning. To some extent, language learning is a process of reducing errors and handling errors. However, if teachers correct students’ errors too frequently or give them too much correction, that may dampen students’ enthusiasm and confidence which will do harm to their language learning. Teachers should hold positive attitudes and have a better understanding of corrective feedback. Teachers should choose the right time to give students corrective feedback and adopt the appropriate strategies in order to draw students’ attention and raise their awareness of accuracy. The teachers’ job is to give students guidance during their language learning process. Teachers also need to improve the effectiveness of corrective feedback and boost students’ learning efficiency.
