从违反合作原则看《红楼梦》中王熙凤的话语_英语论文

The Analysis on Wang Xifeng’s Discourse in A Dream of Red Mansions: from the Violation of Cooperative Principle

摘要

随着中国综合国力的提高，我们的文化政策也不光要“引进来”，更要“走出去”。《红楼梦》作为中国优秀传统文化的杰出代表，对红楼梦的研究已经取得了一些成果。王熙凤是《红楼梦》中性格特征别具特色的人物之一，她能言善辩，善于察言观色，上能逗乐取信贾母等，下能震慑一干下人。对王熙凤话语的研究具有重要作用。王熙凤善用合作原则，她所说的话确实符合合作原则，但更多的情况是她违反了合作原则，从而产生特殊的会话含义。有时是为了恭维长辈，有时是为了化解尴尬场面。她对“善意的谎言”的熟练应用，闪烁着智慧的光彩。基于《红楼梦》两个英译版中王熙凤话语的翻译，文章研究合作原则的违反情况，及其产生的特殊的会话含义，从三个方面分析影响王熙凤话语翻译的因素，阐述红楼梦所传播的中国文化。

Abstract

With the improvement and increase of Chinese comprehensive strength, our cultural policy should not be limited to “introduction”, but also “going out”. Researches and great achievements have been made on A Dream of Red Mansions, one of the outstanding representatives of Chinese traditional culture. Wang Xifeng is one of the most distinctive characters in this novel. She is good at observing others’ speech and behaviors. She can not only amuse Lady Dowager, but also frighten servants. Researches on Wang Xifeng’s discourses play an important role. Wang Xifeng does well in taking advantages of cooperative principle and what she says is consistent with cooperative principle. However, in some cases, Wang Xifeng’s deliberate violation of cooperative principle brings about special implication. Sometimes she aims to pay respect to the elder, and sometimes she aims to resolve embarrassment. Her skillful use of white lies shows her wisdom. This thesis intends to study the violation of the cooperative principle and its special conversational implications in the translation of Wang Xifeng's discourse in two English versions of A Dream of Red Mansions. Moreover, this paper analyzes the factors that affect the translation of Wang Xifeng's discourses, and spread the Chinese culture which is transmitted in A Dream of Red Mansions.
