从电影《朱诺》和《红颜》看中西方家庭观念差异_英语论文

The Different Family Values between Western people and Chinese people Shown in Juno and Dam Street

摘要

中西方由于文化传统以及价值观念的不同，在家庭观念上呈现出诸多差异。电影《朱诺》和《红颜》都是时代异国的文化产物，它们从女主角未婚怀孕这个小角度带出不同家庭教育所带来的深远影响。中国家庭认为孩子的成功关系到家族的荣耀，而西方家庭重在引导但不干涉孩子的选择，正因如此，《朱诺》和《红颜》中两位主人公的命运截然不同，两部电影反映了中西方家长的做法和教育理念。产生的原因是由于中西方文化的不同。中国是以集体生活为主，所产生的家庭观念着重于集体优先，西方强调个体差异性，家庭观多在培养孩子人格，塑造个性，尊重个体。

Abstract

Due to the different cultural traditions and value systems in China and western countries, there appear numerous diversity in family values. The movies—Juno and Dam Street, the two movies in different countries, describe the life of two unmarried pregnant ladies in two countries and talk about far-reaching impacts brought by different family education. Chinese and Western people have totally different attitudes toward family values. Chinese family regards children’s success as family glories, while western parents focus on guiding instead of interfering in children’s choices. Therefore, the characters in Juno and Dam Street had totally different fates. The differences of Chinese and Western family values is caused by their different culture. Chinese tend to have collective life and their family values take collectivism first, while western people pay more attention to individual differences, which aims to cultivate children’s characters, build their personalities and respect individuals.
