摘要

D.H.劳伦斯是20世纪英语文学中颇具救赎思想的作家。他厌恶工业文明给社会带来的病态，在其诸多小说创作中凸显出救赎思想，试图建立救赎策略来拯救社会。

《儿子与情人》与《查特莱夫人的情人》是劳伦斯创作出的两部具有救赎代表性的长篇小说。在《儿子与情人》中，父亲莫瑞尔先生通过不停地劳作与喝酒以实现自我救赎，母亲莫瑞尔太太通过病态地控制儿子以实现自我救赎，儿子保罗与情人蒙莉安之间通过精神交流以实现相互救赎，儿子保罗与情人克劳拉之间通过肉体交流以实现相互救赎；在《查特莱夫人的情人》中，查特莱先生克利福德通过构造小说世界、幻想名誉与地位已实现自我救赎，康妮与梅勒斯通过相爱寻找活力与激情以实现相互拯救。

本文将从救赎的角度出发，分析劳伦斯作品中“救赎思想”产生的原因，探究这一主题在劳伦斯作品中的体现，并借此获得对劳伦斯更深刻的认知

Abstract

D·H·Lawrence, who comes from the English literature world of the 20th century, has been a writer of rich redemption consciousness. Abominating the sickness of the society which is caused by industrial civilization, Lawrence always highlights the redemption consciousness in many of his works, and is eager to structure the possible redemption strategy to redeem the society.

Lawrence has written many famous known novels, Sons and Lovers and Lady Chatterley’s Lover are two of the most famous maintaining redemption consciousness. In Sons and Lovers, the father Mr.Morel redeems himself through endless drinking and working, while the mother Mrs.Morel redeems herself through controlling her son. And the son Paul tries to realize mutual redemption between his lover Miriam and himself through spiritual association, while he himself then tries to redeem his lover Clara and himself through physical contact. In Lady Chatterley’s Lover, to redeem himself, Sir.Chatterley Clifford successfully establishes a story world and keeps dreaming about fame and status. And Connie and Mellows finally redeem themselves through seeking for passion and vitality in their mutual love.

From the perspective of redemption consciousness, this thesis is going to analyze the causes of redemption consciousness in Lawrence’ novels and the representations of it, so as to gain a further cognition of D·H·Lawrence.
