The Cultivation of Primary School Students’ Autonomous Reading Ability

摘要

阅读是英语学习的基本技能之一,也是学生获取信息的重要途径。培养学生英语自主阅读能力是英语教学中的重中之重,好的自主阅读能力是学生顺利进行学习活动的重要基础。二十世纪八十年代以来,外语学习中的自主性一直被广大学者所关注,所有学者都认同培养学生“自主性学习”在英语学习中的积极意义,并且从不同的方面探讨自主学习的培养途径。自主阅读指的就是学生能独立地支配和控制自己阅读的过程。自主阅读作为自主学习的一个方面,理应受到重视。同时这也是一个复杂的、系统的、程序性的实践过程。小学生学习者有其自身独特的特点,个人认知和自我控制能力都比较薄弱,如何培养小学生的英语自主阅读能力? 这是个十分具有挑战性的课题,同时也具有十分重要的理论和现实意义。本文从近几年小学英语学习研究和发展的最新理念和方法入手,并结合相关研究,旨在提高小学生英语自主阅读的能力,引导学习者自动、独立学习,希望培养小学生独立自主阅读的能力和习惯。

Abstract

Reading is one of the basic skills of English learning, as well as an important way for students to obtain information. To cultivate students’ English reading ability is the most significant thing in English teaching. A good independent reading ability is the foundation of students in learning activities. Since the 1980s, autonomy in language learning has been concerned by many scholars, and all of them believe that the cultivation of primary school students’ autonomous reading ability has a positive effect on English learning. Besides, in order to cultivate autonomous reading ability, the scholars have discussed from various aspects. Autonomous reading means that the students can dominate and control their reading process independently. As an aspect of autonomous learning, autonomous reading should be taken seriously. And it is also a complicated, systematic and procedural practice process. Primary school students have their own unique characters. And their individual cognitive and self-control ability are relatively weak. How to cultivate primary school students’ autonomous English reading ability? This is a very challenging topic, both theoretically and practically. In this paper, I will discuss autonomous reading from the primary school English learning in recent years, to the latest ideas, methods of research and development. And it  combines with related study, aims to improve the reading ability of primary school students, and guides the learners to conduct automatic, and independent learning. Hope to encourage primary school students to cultivate independent autonomous reading ability and habits.
