On Translators and Cross-cultural Awareness

摘要

翻译逐渐被认同为一种跨文化交际的行为，人们也开始从跨文化交际的角度来研究翻译，那么，作为翻译行为的实施人，译者，在整个翻译过程中起着至关重要的作用。然而跨文化意识对译者来说是不可或缺的。本文尝试研究什么是译者应该具备的跨文化意识及其两个层次，以期加深对译者这一必备素质的认识。译者具备这种意识就可以把握用语并不受文化差异的影响。跨文化意识的培养有助于译者减少乃至消除用语失误，从而促使跨文化交际的成功实现。

Abstract 

Translator plays a vital role in the whole process of translation and cross-cultural awareness is one of the basic requirements for translator when he or she participates in the intercultural communication. The author endeavors to give a tentative study on what the translator’s cross-cultural awareness is and the relationships between translator and cross-cultural awareness. In addition, the importance of cross-cultural awareness for translator and some suggestions for the cultivation of cross-cultural awareness will be given in this thesis.
