On the Application of Theory of Adaptation in Business Interpretation

摘要

由于全球经济迅猛发展，国际间的交流越来越频繁,商务口译在不同的社交场合也得到越来越多的关注。商务口译需要口译人员不仅拥有渊博的知识及随机应变的能力，还要掌握一定的口译技巧才能很好的起到谈判双方的桥梁作用。本文由比利时国际语用学会会长Verchueren提出的顺应理论为切入点，从一种新的视角来讨论顺应理论的语用意义及其在商务口译中的应用。本文通过顺应论的语境、语言结构、动态顺应及意识程度这四个方面来分析译语的选择，通过对商务口译中的众多例子说明口译实践活动中存在的语言顺应现象，从而说明顺应对口译有一定的解释和指导作用，使得口译工作者能够有意识的顺应，选择适当的语言，从而成功促成每一次的商务洽谈。

Abstract

With the rapid development of global economy, international communication is increasing more rapidly, business interpretation has gained more attention in different social situations. Business interpretation requires interpreter to possess profound knowledge and the ability to meet several emergencies. In addition, the interpreter needs to master the interpreting strategies so that he can serve as the bridge between the negotiation parties. Adaptation theory is the breakthrough point. This theory is proposed by Belgian international pragmatic secretary Verschueren. It is proposed from a new perspective to talk about its pragmatic meaning and application. This thesis discusses the adaptation theory’s four aspect of context, structure, dynamic adaptability and the salience of adaptation to analyze the choices of interpreted language. Through many examples in business interpretation, it explains that many adaptation phenomena exist in interpreting practice. To some degree, adaptation performs an important interpretative and guiding function in interpreting process. It can enable the interpreter to consciously select the appropriate language and thus contribute to each business interpretation successfully.
