The Treatment of New Words in English Reading

摘要

阅读是重要的英语技能之一，体现了学习者的英语水平，但是在阅读中生词的出现给学习者造成了很大的障碍。如今，越来越多的人学习英语，但是想要熟练地运用英语并掌握这门语言并不是一件容易的事情。学过英语的人知道，学习英语难就难在词汇的学习上。学生掌握的词汇量与语言运用能力是成正比的。掌握的词汇量越大，运用能力和阅读能力就越强，反之亦然。在阅读英语材料的过程中，学生往往会将他们所不熟悉的单词归类为生词。生词的存在将会严重影响到学生们的阅读速度以及学习效率。因此，如何正确的处理这些生词已成为学习过程中必不可少的一个环节。本文通过分析英语阅读中的障碍和处理生词的影响因素，提出如何处理英语阅读中的生词，以提高学生的阅读效率。

Abstract

Reading is one of the most important English skills, which reflects learners' English level. But the emergence of new words in reading causes a lot of obstacles to the learners. Nowadays, more and more people are learning English. It is not easy for people who want to use English fluently and master the language. For those who have learned English, they know that the most difficult thing in learning English is the vocabulary learning. The mastery of the vocabulary is usually in direct proportion to language ability. The more vocabulary people master, the stronger using and reading ability people will get, and vice versa. In the process of reading English materials, students will often classify their unfamiliar words as new words. New words will seriously affect students' reading speed and efficiency. Therefore, how to properly deal with these words has become an essential part of the process of learning. Based on the analysis of the obstacles in English reading and the influencing factors on new words treatment, this paper emphasizes how to correctly deal with new words in reading and to improve students' reading efficiency.
