On the Colonization in Robinson Crusoe

摘要

丹尼尔·笛福是18世纪英国四大著名小说家之一，被誉为“英国小说之父”。在他59岁时，发表了代表作《鲁滨逊漂流记》。这部作品一经出版就风靡英国。《鲁滨逊漂流记》是英国文学史上第一部现实主义小说，对英国小说的发展起到了巨大推动作用。

《鲁滨逊漂流记》讲述了主人公鲁滨逊在航海过程中遇险漂流到荒岛的故事。鲁滨逊是一个勇敢，充满热情的人，他对航海有着浓厚的兴趣。在他漂流到无人岛后，他没有绝望，反而在荒岛上建立了一个属于自己的王国。野人“星期五”成为了他最衷心的仆人。

本文将运用后殖民主义的相关理论，来分析鲁滨逊在荒岛上的一系列殖民活动。希望本文能从一个新的角度加深大家对这部经典小说的理解。

Abstract

Daniel Defoe is one of the best-known novelists in Britain in the 18th century and he is regarded as the “father of the English novel”. Daniel Defoe wrote his first novel Robinson Crusoe at the age of 59, which is considered as the first work of realism in the history of English literature. The novel tells the story of the protagonist Robinson Crusoe’s experience on an uninhabited island. 

The novel, in essence, reflects the colonial expansion of western countries in the 18th century. Based on the theory of post-colonialism, the paper will focus on the economic and cultural colonization of Robinson Crusoe and explore the undertones of Orientalism and Euro-centralism in the text. It is hoped that this paper can provide a new perspective for readers to appreciate this classic novel.
