中英文颜色词隐喻含义比较研究_英语论文

A Comparative Study of Color Metaphors in English and in Chinese

摘要

古今中外，颜色词被大量运用在文学创作中，也被赋予了大量的“颜外之意”，而这些“颜外之意”就是颜色词的隐喻含义。中英文颜色词隐喻含义的比较研究在认知语言学的框架内进行，以隐喻为理论基础,从认知的角度分析英汉颜色词隐喻的异同。

英语中的颜色隐喻主要涉及黑、白、绿、蓝、紫等，中文中的颜色隐喻主要包括性格隐喻、社会地位隐喻以及日常生活和民间风俗隐喻。英语和汉语中的颜色隐喻的类似的颜色隐喻包括红和绿，英语和汉语中颜色隐喻的主要区别在于：不同文化有不同的颜色偏好、中西方某些颜色词语具有特殊的隐喻含义。

Abstract

At all times and in all countries, color words have been widely used in literary creation and also have been given many other meanings which are the metaphorical meanings. From the cognitive perspective, the comparative study of color metaphor in English and Chinese takes metaphor as its theoretical basis.

The color metaphors in English mainly include: black, white, green, blue and purple while the color metaphors in Chinese are mainly associated with metaphors of character, metaphors of social status and metaphors of daily life and folk customs. Such color metaphors of red and green in English and Chinese are similar while the they also differ in some ways: different cultures have different preferences of color and some color words have specific metaphorical meanings in the west and in China.
