A Study on Translation of Movie Titles from the Perspective of Domestication and Foreignization

摘要

电影作为一门综合艺术，有着它本身独一无二的特点,在现实生活中扮演着不可或缺的角色。“电影片名的翻译”已经成为一个流行的词语，众所周知，如何译好电影片名已成为翻译界热烈讨论了很长时的话题。西方的片名不同于中国电影片名，它对各国间的跨文化交流有着重要的影响。所以在电影片名的翻译过程中，翻译者们应采用归化和异化的翻译原则来展示中英文化之间的差异，从而达到令人满意的翻译效果。

Abstract

As an comprehensive arts, movie has its own unique features and plays a necessary role in real life. The translation of movie titles has become a popular topic in modern life. As is known to all, how to translate the movie title has become a controversial topic in the field of translation for a long time. The translation of western movie titles is quite different from that of Chinese movie titles. It will have a great effect on the cross-cultural communication between different countries. So in the process of the translation, translators should adopt the translation principles of domestication and foreignization to show the differences between Chinese and English culture. In this case, we may achieve satisfactory translation effects.
