《无耻混蛋》与《让子弹飞》中黑色幽默比较分析
A Comparative Analysis of Black Humor in Inglourious Basterds and Let the Bullets Fly
Abstract
Black humor is a subgenre of comedy that originated in the late 1960s. Black humor exposes the absurdity of the world and the oppression of society on individuals. It displays the disharmony between the environment and the individual in a funny, though horrifying style. Inglourious Basterds is a black humor film directed by Quentin, showing the accusations against World War II. Let the Bullets Fly, Jiang Wen's masterpiece, tells the story between bandits and officials. Both movies use black humor to convey the cruelty and madness of war. Therefore, these two movies serve as a good example to show how the difference in culture affect the way people express and comprehend humor.
This thesis is divided into four parts: The first part gives a brief introduction of black humor, its origin, representative authors and their works; the second part and the third part introduce the two movies and then explain how black humor was expressed in them with examples. The fourth part will first give the common and different points in the expression of black humor in these movies and then analyze the causes of the differences. In addition, it also attempts to understand the profound implications contained in the two movies. Through sharp contrasts, we can have a full picture of the differences between Chinese and Western cultures and how they affect the use of black humorous movies in China and the US.
