基于霍夫斯泰德“文化维度理论”的中美电子游戏文化差异分析
An Analysis of the Differences between Chinese and American Video Game Cultures Based on Hofstede’s Theory of Cultural Dimensions
摘要
伴随着全球化的不断发展,各国家、各民族间的文化交流日益增加。由于不同民族在观念、风俗习惯、家庭观念、生活方式等文化因素上存在差异,不同国家的电子游戏也表达着不同的文化理念及内涵。电子游戏是文化发展中的一个重要方面。作为文化交流的一种方式,电子游戏在跨文化交际中显现出越来越重要的地位。电子游戏的研发及内容体现出开发者所在国家的文化价值观念,是文化输出的载体之一。本文基于霍夫斯泰德“文化维度理论”,以美国电子游戏《魔兽世界》和中国电子游戏《梦幻西游》为例,对比分析中美电子游戏文化差异,探讨其中文化差异的根源。

Abstract
With the continuous development of globalization, exchanges between countries and nations have become more and more frequent. Because different nations have different culture factors, such as concept, customs, family concept, and lifestyle, different countries' video games also shows different cultural concepts and connotation. Video games play an important role in cultural development. As a way of cultural exchange, video games have become increasingly important in cross-cultural communication. Video games' development and its content reflects the cultural values of the countries where the developers are located, and video games are one of the carriers of cultural output. Based on Hofstede's theory of Cultural Dimensions, This paper attempt to explore the culture difference between Chinese and American video game cultures and explores the root causes of cultural differences through the American video game, the World of Warcraft and the Chinese video game, the Fantasy Westward Journey.
