Dissimilation of Black Culture Under the Impact of White Culture in The Bluest Eye

托尼·莫里森是二十世纪最成功、最突出的非洲裔美国女作家，她曾获得诺贝尔文学奖、普利策奖和美国图书奖，也是美国历史上唯一获得诺贝尔奖的美国女性。《最蓝的眼睛》作为托尼·莫里森的处女作体现了由白人强势文化冲击所造成的黑人文化的异化，也探讨了抵抗白人文化冲击、保留黑人文化的途径。

本论文研究了在白人文化为主导的影响下，《最蓝的眼睛》中非洲裔美国人的文化异化问题。论文一共分为四个部分。第一部分主要介绍了《最蓝的眼睛》的相关历史背景；第二部分分析了其中几位重要黑人角色在小说中的文化异化过程；第三部分分析文中黑人文化在白人文化冲击下审美观与价值观的异化；第四部分分析了小说对于黑人文化所展开的探索与思考。最后，本论文得出结论：在白人文化的强烈的冲击下，除了追求政治和经济上的独立以外，黑人还需要保持本民族文化，以避免出现类似文章中的几个重要黑人角色的悲剧。

Abstract

Toni Morrison, awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, Pulitzer Prize and the American Book Award, is the most successful and prominent African-American woman writer of 20th century. She is the only American woman who won the Nobel Prize in American history. As Toni Morrison’s first work, The Bluest Eye shows the tragedy of black culture dissimilation caused by the impact of white culture, and also discusses the ways to resist white culture shock and preserve black culture. 

This thesis aims to focus on the study of the cultural dissimilation of black people which is caused by the dominant impact of white culture. This thesis is divided into four parts. It firstly introduces the historical background of The Bluest Eye. Secondly, it analyzes the process of dissimilation of several main characters in The Bluest Eye. Thirdly, it analyzes the dissimilation of black culture on the aesthetic and values under the impact of white culture. Fourthly, it analyzes the exploration and reflection on black culture of The Bluest Eye. Finally, this paper concludes that under the strong impact of white culture, black people need to reserve their own culture even when they pursue the independence of politics and economy thus to avoid the tragedy as the main characters in The Bluest Eye.
