An Analysis of Eco-feminism in The Bluest Eye
Abstract
The Bluest Eye is a long novel written by Toni Morrison, an American writer. The researches abroad mainly concentrate on identity and family values and the researches at home mainly focus on the narration structure. At present, there are few cases that use ecofeminist theory to analyze this novel both at home and abroad.
This paper analyzes the reasons and solutions for gender relationship imbalance with ecofeminist theory. This paper consists of four parts. The first chapter mainly introduces Toni Morrison’s biography and her work The Bluest Eye. The second one discusses the basic theory of eco-feminism. The third one mainly introduces the function of community and black family, which shows Morrison’s consciousness of eco-feminism. The fourth part mainly analyzes the reasons and solutions for gender relationship imbalance.
This paper reckons that The Bluest Eye depicts the trauma to female caused by the patriarchal society. She disagree with the theory of binary opposition in gender relationship. This paper also analyzes Toni Morrison’s desire for building a harmonious world and achieving the balance of gender and indicates that gender balance is the final way for female liberation.
