A Study on Reading Strategies in Junior High School EFL Classes
摘要
阅读策略是学习者阅读效果的关键要素,也是外语教学研究的热点问题。本文通过问卷和访谈研究初中生英语阅读策略的运用情况,以期对初中阅读教学提出一些建设性的意见。研究发现,初中学生常用的英语阅读策略是Skimming和Scanning;词汇量和背景知识是影响学生阅读的重要原因;学习经历和教师阅读指导是阅读策略有效抉择的重要因素。初中英语教师在阅读教学中应注重学生词汇与重要话题背景知识的积累,并做好阅读策略的有效指导。

Abstract
Reading strategies are important to EFL learners’ reading comprehension and the study of reading strategies is one of the hot issues in the foreign language teaching and research.This paper employs questionnaire and interview to study the reading strategies used by Junior High School EFL learners in an attempt to give implications to the teaching of reading in Junior High Schools. The research shows that the reading strategies Junior High School students always used are skimming and scanning; vocabulary and prior knowledge are important factors which influenced students’ reading; learning experience and teachers’ guidance are other factors affected students’ employment of reading strategies. English teachers in Junior High School should pay attention to the accumulation of students’ vocabulary and background knowledge about important topics, and do effective guidance of reading strategies.
